They begged. We relented. And now… it’s loose.
From the shadowy depths of legend and the slightly chaotic minds of your favourite wingsuit fanatics, comes the Kraken ZP. You asked for a version that was even more rugged, could handle more jumps, and still open like a dream. So we listened. (Because we’re people pleasers. With access to industrial sewing machines.)
This isn’t a dainty, low-bulk prima donna. The Kraken ZP is a full zero-porosity powerhouse — the same mythic ride, now wrapped in skin that’s tougher, shinier, and ready to go the distance. Whether you’re a fresh hatchling or a seasoned sea monster of the sky, this wing’s got you covered. Durability? Dialed. Confidence? Locked. Flare? Still terrifyingly good.
The Kraken ZP isn’t trying to be the newest, flashiest thing — it’s here to do the work, look good doing it, and outlive your favourite jumpsuit. You asked. We delivered. And now it’s released.
Add a Squirrel SkySNATCH PC to your Kraken order for just $169 USD (normally $209 USD) using the code SKYSNATCH169 in your shopping cart.
The Kraken was born out of our obsession with flying — and frustration with the status quo in wingsuit canopies. We didn’t build the Kraken to be “fine.” We built it to stomp all over the wingsuit canopy rulebook. We came in loud, proud, and hellbent on building something that opened beautifully and flew even better. After thousands of test jumps (and Jyro’s debriefs and cocktails), we released the Kraken: a canopy that changed the wingsuit game.
The original Kraken Low Bulk is a hybrid, made from low-bulk L-ZP with J-ZP reinforcement — a setup that lets you pack big into a standard rig, without compromising on durability. But some of you don’t care about packing small. You wanted more strength, more stiffness, more longevity.
So, the full ZP version is here — not because we planned it, but because you summoned it.
Enter the Kraken ZP. It’s everything you love about the original — killer openings, fat stable profile, responsive handling – now built entirely from full-power J-ZP fabric for maximum durability and a firmer feel in flight. No compromises, no cut corners. Just a canopy forged for the long-haul, with the same signature flare and heading performance that’s ready to take a beating, handle aggressive packing, and be your go-to wingsuit canopy day in and day out.
Advanced 3D CAD softwares give us more freedom to design the canopy down to the finest details and helps generate the most accurate panels possible. The result is a more accurate shaping, a smoother surface, and better aerodynamic efficiency.
The Kraken shape has been tested using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), which gives us, among other things, a better understanding of her behavior in turbulence and during recovery.
This is Kraken, battle-armoured. Built entirely from our full-strength J-ZP signature zero porosity fabric, this 30 denier silicone coated ripstop brings the grit to match the glory - with durability, structure and longevity dialled up.
We've added the split leading edge Powerband to all our new canopies since we pioneered it with Petra. It allows us to better control the aerodynamic shape in the nose area, which prevents parasitic drag.
The Kraken, like the Crossfire 3, has been designed directly in the shape she will have during flight, by taking into account the Zig-Zag distortion. This spreads the load evenly through the fabric and makes the wing more structurally efficient.
The Kraken has benefited from research on rib shaping that was originally used to design our new range of hyper-performance wings, Petra and Leia.
Crossports have been strategically placed in the Kraken to have the least influence on the upper surface shape while allowing a good air circulation between the chambers. They are bigger toward the center of the canopy to help with symmetrical openings. They have also been designed with an elliptical shape that optimizes their area while reducing the upper surface distortion.
While most ribs are perpendicular to the lower surface, the end rib is rotated inward to reduce the size of the end cell and prevent it from losing its shape. This reduces tip vortices and induced drag.
Despite being a relatively docile canopy, the rectangular planform has been compensated with a trim just a notch steeper than you would think. This helps with up wind penetration, fun and is one of the reason for the great flare. The lineset is also relatively short to prevent line twists and help resolving them without effort if they occur.
The shape of the stabiliser has been modernized to prevent it from flapping too much in flight. It also helps the slider to sit in the right position.
The lower surface of the center cell has been split. A very simple overlap between the panels allow the air to get in during opening while preventing any loss of pressure in flight. It really helps with getting symmetrical openings inflating the center cell first and anchoring the canopy in the air despite the wingsuit burble. The feature was inspired by BASE canopies but is made without mesh which would compromise the canopy durability.
Mini ribs are a clever way to reduce drag generated by the canopy trailing edge by making it sharper. The improvement is really noticeable for a limited impact on cost in terms of packing volume. It really helps during low speed flight and landing.
Parachutes aren't a one size fits all. The Kraken is available in any size you choose so that you can get the perfect wingloading for you at this stage in your canopy progression.
Who is the Kraken ZP for?
You asked for more strength, more structure, more longevity — and we delivered. Made entirely from full-strength J-ZP, it’s got a firmer feel in flight, more resistance to wear, and more muscle in every maneuver, perfect for:
Openings
Built to tame the chaos behind your wingsuit. The Kraken ZP inflates with intent — quick, smooth, and firm. It holds her heading like a ship with a seasoned crew, riding out line twists with ease. The J-ZP build adds consistency to every deployment, giving you reliability you can stake your rep on. The Kraken ZP doesn’t just open well — it commands her space in the sky.
Inputs
There’s authority in every input. Toggle, riser, dive — the Kraken ZP responds with crisp precision. That firmer J-ZP structure means more feedback and more power. If the Low-Bulk version is a loyal steed, Kraken ZP is a trained dragon — stronger, sharper, and ready for high-performance flight.
Toggles
Immediate engagement. You’ll know the moment you connect — it’s all business. Big inputs? Expect a big reaction. Flying slow? It’ll hold steady, like a creature hovering in the wind, waiting for your next move. Every toggle stroke feels clean, direct, and deliberate.
Stall point
Even with the added muscle, the Kraken ZP remains forgiving in slow flight. It’ll whisper before it stalls, and it recovers smoothly and predictably. It wants you to push it — but it won’t punish you for it.
Rear risers
Responsive and efficient, with a touch more power than it’s low-bulk sister. If you’ve got a long glide back from a deep spot, the Kraken ZP will stretch your return without hesitation. Use those rears, and it’ll prove it’s got lungs like a sea monster and range for days.
Front Risers
Lean in. The Kraken ZP can handle aggressive front riser input and deliver the dive you’re craving if you need it. Firmer in feel, more direct in feedback — if you like to fly dynamically or spice up your final approach, it’s here for it.
Performance
Stiffer structure means more assertive flight. The Kraken ZP flies clean and true, with enhanced heading control and even better energy retention. It’s stable enough to inspire confidence and agile enough to keep things fun. Whether you’re floating above a stack or diving to make a slot, it adapts without compromise.
Recovery Arc
You’ll feel it — it dives deeper and recovers longer. That added structure in the J-ZP build gives you more swoop potential than you’d expect from a wingsuit canopy. Sensible design, spicy exit. This Kraken plays in both worlds: wingsuit stability and recovery arc reward.
Flare
That J-ZP flare hits different. More energy. More lift. More drama when you want it. And still, those tiptoe landings? Easy. Whether you’re coming in hot or feathering it in at nil wind, the Kraken ZP’s flare window is wide, and deeply satisfying.
The Kraken ZP packs similarly but slightly small than a 9-cell non-crossbraced canopy like Safire 3 or Crossfire 3 of the same size.
The Crossfire 3 and Safire 3 may typically be found in your container manufacturer’s sizing charts (and on our Crossfire 3 / Safire 3 product pages), which you may use as a reference for what size Kraken will fit in your container.
The Kraken’s fit to your container will depend on many other things such as how tight your previous canopy was in the container, packing skills, how old each canopy is, etc., so please take the information above as a general rule of thumb!

Built entirely from J-ZP, our high-tenacity, zero-porosity wonder fabric, the Kraken ZP isn’t here to play nice. This 30 denier silicone-coated ripstop is slick, strong, and stubbornly airtight, giving your wing the backbone it needs to take a beating and keep opening like it means it. The result? A canopy with sharper edges, firmer flight, and a lifespan worthy of legend. And because we know you love a good colourway as much as a good opening, you get thirteen bold hues to choose from. This isn’t your delicate, low-bulk princess — it’s Kraken, all grown up and ready for war.
Thanks for the awesome review! We’re stoked you find our Kraken magical 😀 and love that you say “release the Kraken” on opening. We should definitely make it a thing people do – tips on how to get the best from your canopy…
Either “Release the Kraken” or “All hail the Snell” or “Snelly, you magnificent bastard”
This has brightened my day! Gold, pure gold 🙂
I have been jumping a Kraken 119 for some time now and Absolutely love it for wingsuiting as well as regular jumping. Openings have been nice, as long as I have good body position, and quite consistent. Toggle fires have been quite easy to deal with, just using harness input to stop the turn or little opposite riser input. The few times I have had line twist have been rather uneventful. (If you wingsuit often line twists are just going to happen on what ever canopy you are flying.) The flight characteristics are excellent! Super fun and responsive to inputs. Nice dive and recovery so you don’t have to sacrifice a swoop if you are on a wingsuit jump, and an excellent bottom end flare. Flying a standard straight in pattern or doing a high performance turn for landing have both given me good results with plenty of flare for nice stand up landings in any wind condititon.
One of the more impressive aspects with this canopy is the glide range. I’ve opened with some pretty long spots and have always made it back to the DZ with time for a decent landing pattern.
Absolutely love my Kraken!
Super bravi, complimenti !!!!
I had my first five jumps over the weekend with my Kraken, the wingsuit flight as always was special but once it was deployment time , Wow freaking perfect soft on heading openings in pretty testy windy conditions, I have been jumping a Sabre 3 170 and 80% of the time I would have good openings in winds below 20 knots and the anything above 20 knots even with perfect body position I would end up with line twists as the Sabre would snivel and take longer to open and then get hit with gusts of wind near final inflation. I wingsuit most of the time and its all about the openings and the overall characteristics and handling of the Kraken are fantastic for a7 cell canopy. I researched all the wingsuit canopies on the market and spoke to a few people who were flying 7 cells and made a great decision going for the Kraken. It’s a fantastic wingsuit canopy and I couldn’t be happier.
Fuck Yea! Absolutely love it.
Cheers to the team at Jyro.
i love my Kraken! openings KICK ASS practically all r 400’ soft & on heading. this is my only wing ATM i fly it 100% of the time video/AFF/wingsuit hooking 360s from 450’ turning slow @ 1.3 with 27” risers
Vibhu –
I can’t say enough good things about this canopy.
Everything NZ Aero says about it is true, however, they left out one fact though: it’s fucking magical.
There is no other explanation for how well this flies, except sheer sorcery.
Flare for days, can even pull the fronts down on a big canopy, it opens comfortably on heading, be it on a wingsuit or slick dive.
This canopy will have you question all other manufacturers with a recurring theme – “how is this possible? how did NZ Aero do this?”
And yes, you can absolutely giggle inside your helmet as you say “Release the Kraken” prior to deployment (or maybe that’s just me…)
Had never jumped a Kraken before – bought it on the recommendation of my wingsuit instructor and mentor Tim Sartori.
Seriously, best main decision I’ve ever made. Thank you heaps.
